Xero How To Remove Duplicate Entries in Paypal Xero Bank Feeds

The Paypal feed to Xero sometimes pushes through some entries twice.

This procedure shows you how to delete the duplicate entry.

It is a good idea to have your Paypal account open at the same time to match the transactions and find out which entries have been duplicated.

Warning: Take Care - This should only be used for removing duplicate entries otherwise your bank account will never reconcile.

We have a Step by Step Procedure downloadable as a PDF available for download. Just click the link below.

Today I am going to show you how to fix up duplicate entries in your PayPal fees.

Now for some reason when the PayPal fee are coming through it sometimes shows two entries that are exactly the same.

Quite often you will get about two days coming through or when you have just imported a statement and it is reasonably common and I will show you how to fix it.

So we need to go to PayPal and reconcile the four items.

We can see the first two here are the same entry and they occurred on the same date.

You might look back at your PayPal account for that day and say “okay only one has come through but we have actually got two items showing”

So what we do is go to the bank statements and we click on the date and select the item you want deleted.
Click delete and it says ‘are you sure you want to delete this line?’

Generally business use only required to delete duplicate statement lines.

So if you have an expense in there that you don’t know where it should be and it has been in your bank account, this is not the way to do it.

It is only to remove duplicate lines.

So we say yes and it will show it as being deleted.

We can go back to your bank statements and bank accounts and reconcile just three items.

So you go through the normal process of reconciling the transactions on your PayPal account.
