On 19 November 2009, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released the Average Weekly Earnings data for the August 2009 quarter. As part of this release, the ABS implemented a revised set of industry classifications, impacting historical data from August 1994 to May 2009.

These changes have resulted in upward adjustments to previously published earnings figures, with increases ranging from $0.01 per hour in August 1994 to up to $1.10 per hour by May 2009.

What This Means for Domestic Care Claims

As a result of these revisions, we have updated our Domestic Care Calculator to reflect the newly published ABS rates. This update will likely increase the value of Domestic Care claims when comparing calculations based on earlier reports. If you are referencing or updating historical valuations, please ensure you're using the correct data set.

You can find the ABS 6302.0 August 2009 report here on the ABS website.
